Chiropractic Adjustment
Chiropractic is the leading alternative health care field that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and the nervous system.  The primary goal is to restore normal joint and soft tissue mobility to areas that are restricted.  This helps relieve pain, relaxes muscle spasms, frees up scar tissue, restores proper joint function and improves the nervous system by manipulating both the spine and extremities. Chiropractic care is safe for infants, children, pregnant females and adults.  Dr. Metzler is trained in many techniques including Diversified, Flexion/Distraction, Thompson Drop, Activator, and Extremity adjustments that he tailors to the individual patient’s needs and body type to deliver the most effective treatment.

Graston Technique
Graston® Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is a form of manual therapy designed to treat soft tissue disorders.  As a certified Graston provider, Dr. Metzler uses this technique to effectively treat new injuries as well as chronic conditions.  One of the most exciting aspects of this treatment is the significant improvement that occurs even in cases where other treatments have failed.  Graston® Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is a soft-tissue treatment that utilizes stainless steel instruments to comb over and breakup areas of fibrous scar tissue. After these adhesions are broken up, the body absorbs them allowing the body to heal properly decreasing pain and improving function.  To learn more, please visit www.grastontechnique.com.

Myofasical Release
Myofasical release is a soft tissue technique that treats conditions with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.  Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee pain, and tennis elbow are a few examples of the conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently.

Kinesio Taping
The Kinesio Taping Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support or to prevent over-contraction. There are two techniques. The first technique allows for support while maintaining full range of motion. This enables the individual to participate in normal physical activity with functional assistance. The second technique, which is most commonly used in the acute stage of rehabilitation, helps prevent overuse or over-contraction and helps provide facilitation of lymph flow.

Corrective Exercises
Dr. Metzler prescribes his patients exercises designed specifically for their individual needs to help rehabilitate and then strengthen muscle groups related to their condition.  Depending on the condition, these exercises, in addition to other treatments, can improve and speed recovery by as much as 30-40%. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be functioning improperly due to improper use or repetitive stress.

To complement and enhance the healing effects of other treatments, Metzler Chiropractic provides the following physiological therapeutic procedures:

  • Myofasical Release

  • Mechanical traction
