Here's What to Expect:
YOUR FIRST VISIT:
Many individuals experiencing chiropractic treatment for the first time might have a lot of questions about the treatment procedures. Some might be scared, while others are nervous due to lack of proper knowledge about what to expect. Read on to learn more about what you will experience during your first visit to the Metzler Chiropractic Clinic in Omaha to make you more comfortable and better prepared for it.
Patient Forms
When you arrive at Metzler Chiropractic Clinic, one of our Chiropractic Assistants will greet you and welcome you. Our assistants, Jen, Angel and Julie, will review your paperwork to make sure it is complete. Prior to your first visit, we request that you complete our new patient forms located in the New Patient folder.
Consultation
Once the paperwork is complete, you will meet with Dr. Metzler for a no-charge consultation. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Metzler to discover more about you, your condition and your expectations in order to determine whether our brand of chiropractic care can meet your goals. During this time, you can ask any questions you may have or address any concerns you may have. If he believes you are a good candidate for care he will proceed with the examination.
Examination
After your consultation, Dr. Metzler will perform a complete chiropractic examination which will test your reflexes, your strength, your motion ability, as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
X-Ray Studies
After the physical exam is completed, x-rays will taken if indicated. This diagnostic study will help evaluate your case and add to the previously gathered data in the hopes of making an accurate diagnosis. X-rays are essential to rule out more serious conditions and assist Dr. Metzler in developing an appropriate treatment plan for you. If special studies such as MRI or CT are indicated, Dr. Metzler will refer you to another specialist to have this done.
Review of Findings
After all the information has been gathered, Dr. Metzler will review it and develop a treatment plan for you that he believes will be most effective. During this time, he will discuss with you if he thinks he can help based on the gathered exam information. Dr. Metzler will also make recommendations for what he believes is the best way to treat your condition and discuss how long it will take. He will also discuss costs and address any other concerns you may have.
Treatment
After the review of findings, you will be provided with your first chiropractic treatment. The treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. In addition, corrective exercises and nutrition counseling will be incorporated. Wellness is a big component of our approach. Dr. Metzler will be sure to explain what he is doing the first time so that you are as comfortable as possible.
How Long will Take
Your first visit to a chiropractor typically lasts about 45 minutes. This should be enough time to perform all of the above steps needed to gather medical information and evaluate them for proper diagnosis. Since it is your health that is on the line, it is important for Dr. Metzler not to proceed in haste since some crucial information could be left out in the process, thus risking the health of the patient. Please arrive 15 minutes early to your first appointment to make sure the forms are completed properly.
